This software tool lets you reconstruct thumbs.db (thumbcache_*.db, ehthumbs.db) database records.
Operating system creates hidden system files that cannot be viewed by users. These are the Thumbs.db and are actually a database of the miniature images that exist in the folder from which they were initiated. Thumbs.db Viewer displays contents of Thumbs.db and Thumbcache_*.db in the Vista,Win7 environments. The database records as well as the miniature graphics available in the record with metadata can be accessed. The tool is able to collect all the Thumbs.db files in the specified folder. This utility will search the recycle bin to look for deleted Thumbs.db files. You will be able to extract and view the pictures in HTML or PDF formats. On start up, the tool will show you the contents of thumbcache file it found. The utility displays the thumbnails found in a gallery that contains 15 pictures at a time. It will disassemble and display the headers of thubcache files, entries for thumbcache_idx.db and the headers of the thumbnail, etc. It will display image details too.
The program can search swap files for JPG graphics, create reports as databases, thumbnails search in reports, etc. The interface is quite intuitive and simple to use. The interface is well laid out, making it easy to use; even a complete beginner should be able to start using it quickly. Navigation, as available with the current version is quite simple. File extension associations can be made, display can be toggled to show the hidden files or hide them. Multiple language versions are available. This is a neat and handy tool if you need to look into the thumbs files for whatever reasons.
